3 reasons Baker Mayfield could still be on Browns Week 1 roster in 2022

Reason Baker Mayfield could be on the 2022 roster No. 1 – Watson’s uncertainty
I know that the Cleveland Browns did bring in Jacoby Brissett who is a capable backup if Watson does miss time in 2022 because of a suspension, but not many would argue that Mayfield isn’t a more capable player.
So, while Mayfield really has no leverage to force a trade, and no team is currently interested, it could also benefit the Browns to keep him on the roster. That is assuming he isn’t the world’s largest distraction which could easily be the case knowing his personality.
There is no doubt that Brissett was brought in with the belief that Mayfield would be traded, but that market turned south on them very quickly. I still think the Seahawks want him, but that roster is so bad they may just be willing to tank for a season and take their chances in the draft in 2023.
The biggest downfall of the Watson trade is the uncertainty of the 2022 season. Some are saying that he won’t be suspended, while others say he could easily be suspended the entire season. From what I have seen, I do expect there to be a suspension but would estimate it in the four to six-game range.
If Mayfield truly feels he was dealt a bad hand and the injury truly caused all the issues last season, he should be more than motivated to come back with vengeance and prove his doubters wrong, while still playing for the Browns.
After proving he still has it with six starts, the Browns could easily deal him to a team of his liking and everyone would be happy (doubtful, but you never know).
