Browns: 3 Baker Mayfield trade proposals worth accepting

With the 2022 season inching closer and closer, the Cleveland Browns need to find a new home for Baker Mayfield. Here are 3 trades they should accept.

We are now just a few weeks from the 2022 NFL draft and Baker Mayfield is still a member of the Cleveland Browns. The yearly game of “quarterback shuffle” went to the extreme this offseason in the NFL, but at the end of the song, Andrew Berry found himself with Mayfield and his $18.9 million guaranteed contract in hand.

There are certainly some teams who are interested in Mayfield, but they know the Browns are desperate to move on, so the game of “chicken” has begun. Will someone blink and give up next to nothing to take on his contract? Or will all teams hold out and force the Browns to release Mayfield?

It will certainly get interesting and there are a ton of ways this could go. One scenario that folks still aren’t talking about is Mayfield remaining on the roster. I know this could be a touchy situation, but I’m not sure I see a scenario where Berry lets Mayfield walk and pays his full salary.

Berry hasn’t got desperate yet and likely has a few moves in his back pocket come draft night. I think he and the entire organization know that Mayfield remaining on the roster would be difficult for everyone. There aren’t enough scripted speeches in the world for him to win this locker room back.

Here are three trade options that could be on the table now, but Berry just hasn’t been willing to accept to this point.  As time continues to pass, the market for Mayfield will likely soften even more. Remember, a guy like Jimmy Garopollo is also likely available as well.
