3 Current Cleveland Browns you may have forgotten about
By John Suchan
Cleveland Browns forgotten player No. 1: Tony Fields, LB
Tony Fields was a tackling machine in college. He played his first three seasons at Arizona where he had 287 tackles. The linebacker then transferred to West Virginia where he had an outstanding senior campaign recording 88 tackles that year. He was drafted by the Browns in the fifth round last year.
As a rookie, Fields solely played on special teams with Cleveland last season. With the team still trying to build their linebacker room, Fields looks to have a breakout year if he can stay healthy.
He’s still only 22 years old and is considered by many to be just coming into his own. Having had such a stellar career in college and producing at the level that he did, I expect it’s just a matter of time.
So just because we’re all enamored with the new names on the draft board and the high-priced free agents still floating around the market trying to strike gold, don’t forget about a few Browns that still are all very young but full of potential.
Elliott, LeCounte, and Fields will be names that you’ll be talking about more next season.
