With a limited number of picks in the next few years, it’s important that the Cleveland Browns don’t miss. Here are 3 guys to avoid in 2022.

With the Cleveland Browns going all-in after the trade for Deshaun Watson which included giving up six total picks, three of which were first-rounders, the strategy for building this team is going to change.

For one, they don’t have the first-round picks in the next three years to add a player which is much more likely to be a starting-caliber player. Sure, you can find guys in rounds two through seven that are great NFL players, but it becomes harder and harder each round that passes.

Even though it’s a lot of fun to just sign veteran players and big stars in free agency, it’s a luxury that the Browns won’t have moving forward. With major deals on both sides of the ball, the Browns will have to start being cap conscious for the first time since their return in 1999.

I remember a time when the Browns couldn’t pay guys enough money to come here because of the stigma, and now it has become somewhat of a destination and guys are taking hometown discounts.

Everyone knows once you get a few major contracts on the book, the draft is the way you must build your team. Each year you need to find at least one guy in the back half that can come in right away and contribute positively to your team.

As mentioned before, without a first-round pick in the next three drafts, Andrew Berry certainly has his work cut out for him. And while it’s hard enough to find starting-caliber guys, he certainly can’t afford to draft a bust who is out of the league after a year or two.

Here are three guys the Browns should avoid in 2022, as it appears they have a high priority of being a bust.
