These three guys are expected to get starting snaps for the Cleveland Browns in 2022, but if they aren’t careful that could quickly change before Week 1.

As we inch our way towards the 2022 NFL draft that starts on Thursday night, the Cleveland Browns find themselves in an interesting position. Not only do they still have Baker Mayfield on their roster, but they also have a few big holes on the roster.

May speculate that Jadeveon Clowney (defensive end) and Will Fuller (wide receiver) will eventually end up on the roster before the start of the season, but every day a contract isn’t signed, the more I question how “close” a deal is. Many would argue those are the two biggest openings at the moment, but the interior defensive line may be close behind.

After making the big trade for Deshaun Watson this offseason, the Browns don’t have the luxury of having a first-round pick. In a draft that is deep in talent, they still should be able to find a starting-caliber player at pick No. 44, but it certainly would have been easier at pick No. 13 which they originally had.

Trust me, I’m happy to not have the first-round pick. I’m not here to bash Mayfield, but adding Watson is a clear upgrade when you only look at talent and accomplishments. This roster went from a playoff contender to a Super Bowl contender with the move.

Even with a ton of starters returning from the 2021 season and no first-round pick, the Browns will be looking to find starting talent in this year’s draft. And while they may not know it yet, there are three guys on this roster that may not have starting positions before the start of the 2022 season.
