With the 2022 NFL Draft about to kick off, we look at where the Cleveland Browns can focus their attention as they look to load up for the upcoming season

Draft day is finally here, and while the Cleveland Browns don’t have a pick on Thursday night, they are scheduled to be on the clock seven times on days two and three. On top of that, general manager Andrew Berry has shown he can find talent in those rounds.

Round 2 has been especially kind to Berry. In 2020, he was able to land LSU safety Grant Delpit who — after missing his rookie season with a torn Achilles — turned into a productive starter last season. In 2021, he added Notre Dame linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah who also played well in his first season.

So while it’s going to be weird to sit around on Thursday, hope for impact players should remain high. And in this final Browns 2022 NFL Mock Draft, an impact player is landed as they go with an explosive EDGE player at pick No. 44.

Cleveland Browns Round 2 Pick 44: Drake Jackson, EDGE, USC

At No. 44, Cleveland adds Drake Jackson out of USC, which fills a need on the defensive line across from Myles Garrett. While there’s still a chance they bring back Jadeveon Clowney, the addition of Jackson shouldn’t be dependent on this. In fact, it would be even better for the Browns to have Jackson play in a reserve role as a rookie.

Jackson put up 12.5 sacks in three seasons for the Trojans but he has yet to really put it all together. He’s tall, has long arms, and has a ton of explosiveness to his game. However, he’s very raw and could use some refinement.

In the end, this could be a player who does little in year one but as he approaches the end of his second season in the league, he will be counted as a major steal for Cleveland.
