Cleveland Browns mock draft: Drake Jackson adds explosion on the edge

Cleveland Browns Round 6 Pick 202: Verone McKinley III, S, Oregon
There are three safeties in Cleveland who all seem better closer to the line of scrimmage. Grant Delpit, right now, is probably the best they have in deep coverage but that’s still not his natural position.
Here, they draft someone who can line up deep in Verone McKinley III. The Oregon product was seen all over the field for the Ducks but at 5-10 and 198-pounds, he’s not seen as the ideal size for a safety. Still, Cleveland has a need and he could end up filling that for them.
Cleveland Browns Round 7 Pick 223: Cade York, K, LSU
Chase McLaughlin did fine for the most part in 2021 but the Browns need to get better at kicker — which is something we have been saying for years. They try and fix that continual problem here with the selection of Cade York from LSU.
While with the Tigers, York hit 54-of-66 field goals and was good on 164-of-168 extra points. He even attempted an insane 93 extra points during their title run in 2019.
There will always be those who say drafting a kicker is a mistake, but when you have two picks in Round 7, it’s worth landing a player who could be a huge factor.
Cleveland Browns Round 7 Pick 246: Isaiah Weston, WR, Northern Iowa
Another player who visited with the Browns pre-draft is Isaiah Weston from Northern Iowa. He’s considered a potential undrafted free agent, but instead of getting in a bidding war, Cleveland simply uses their final pick to bring him in.
Weston is a big target at 6-3 and 214-pounds and put up impressive numbers all-around at the combine — including 20 reps in the bench press, a 40-inch vertical, 135-inch broad jump, and a 4.42 in the 40-yard dash.
This is another player who could be developed into a weapon down the stretch.
