The Cleveland Browns sat back and watched Day 1 of the NFL Draft and on Day 2 the team will still have an excellent collection of players to choose from

The Cleveland Browns didn’t have a first-round pick this year and that felt strange to many of us after decades of usually having multiple first-round picks because the team was always searching to find that right combination of players. Now the team had an opportunity to sit back and watch the first night of the draft.

What they saw were defensive players coming off the board right away. Then a plethora of trades, trades, and more trades.

There were five defensive players taken before an offensive player came off the board. It was the first draft in ages that we didn’t see a quarterback come off the board in the better part of the first round. Then the trades started, and they kept happening.

Two of the bigger ones involved teams trading away veteran wide receivers. There were also six wide receivers also drafted in the first 18 picks of the draft which had never happened in the NFL draft.

Now the Browns are sitting at No. 44 in the second round and have a wealth of talent waiting to be selected. Does Cleveland go for a wide receiver? There were many taken on Day 1 or do they stick to the defense and take an edge rusher or defensive tackle? Maybe the team decides to try and trade up to start the Day 2 night out? Any way you slice it the Browns will get a great athlete or two.
