With pressure on the entire Cleveland Browns organization to win in 2022, you could see them dig deep into the veteran basket, here are 3 good options.

It’s hard to believe that four years ago the Cleveland Browns were headed into a season with just one win in the last 32 tries. I don’t think anyone was sold on Baker Mayfield (before his rookie season), but John Dorsey was at least bringing in some talent no matter the cost.

Here we are now headed into the 2022 season and after an 8-9 season, fans are furious because this team was picked to be an AFC contender. I know all the Mayfield lovers will say, “You’re welcome.”

But there is far more to the story than that.

Dorsey started with the talent. And while he struggled to manage the cap, we can’t argue he didn’t bring in more talent than we had seen in 20 years. Now Andrew Berry has continued that trend of signing talent, but also utilizing the draft and strategically signing talent.

I know we have all cooled off on Kevin Stefanski after a disappointing 2021, but one point I will continue to stress is that coaching matters in the NFL. You certainly must have the guys, but without a solid locker room and game plan each Sunday you can’t win in the NFL.

2022 seems like a pivotal point for the organization. Berry will have a lot of pressure after moving on from Mayfield and giving up a ton of picks for Deshaun Watson. Stefanski will have a lot of pressure after adding so much talent to an already talented roster. And ownership will feel pressure from the fans to finally get this train back on the tracks.

With all that said, I think the Browns could still dabble in the veteran free agency market for a lot of one-year deals. The team still has plenty of cap space and I expect the Browns to go all in and add a few veteran pieces and move on from a few younger guys who haven’t produced.

Here are three veteran targets.
