Cleveland Browns cut candidate No. 3 – Sione Takitaki

The Cleveland Browns added two linebackers in the 2019 draft. Mack Wilson was the second one drafted who was moved to the New England Patriots earlier this offseason, and Sione Takitaki was the other who was drafted in round three.

Takitaki is a guy who has played a decent number of snaps for the Browns over the last three seasons, but most of his action was forced because of injuries at the position. He’s one of those guys who will make it on another roster, but I’m just not sold he’s a starting-caliber player in the NFL.

The biggest reason I see Takitaki being a cut candidate is because of his inability to play special teams. He doesn’t have the speed to be a great special team player and is really a backup at best on the defensive side of the football.

Linebacker is a position where I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Browns bring in another veteran before the start of the season. Someone who is on the back half of their career but can still play 20 to 30 meaningful snaps a game.

With going all-in on a title, Takitaki is one of those guys that probably deserves another year to prove his worth, but the Browns don’t have time to wait on his development anymore.
