The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know including NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell discussing Deshaun Watson

Deshaun Watson will be discussed a lot as we inch closer to the start of the 2022 season.

The Cleveland Browns quarterback is facing a potential suspension from the NFL due to 22 allegations of sexual assault. As they should, the league is taking this matter seriously and even though Watson hasn’t been indicted, they want to do their due diligence.

Recent reports have emerged saying Watson’s camp expects a decision from the league by July, and the recent words from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell give a similar impression.

While he wouldn’t give a timeline, Goodell said the league is wrapping up its investigation and that the matter would then be turned over to a disciplinary officer.

That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Roger Goodell on Deshaun Watson case: NFL is ‘nearing the end of investigative period’ and then it will be handled by disciplinary officer — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, at a league meeting in Atlanta on Tuesday, revealed that the league is close to wrapping up its investigation into allegations against Deshaun Watson.”"

Previous suspensions made it feel likely that Watson would serve between six-to-eight games. But the Trevor Bauer case in the MLB could lead to the NFL trying to be tougher on such accusations. Whatever the decision, it feels as though we will know sooner, rather than later.

Cleveland Browns OTAs primer: Deshaun Watson’s first practices, a changed offense and more — Nate Ulrich, Akron Beacon Journal

"“Two years ago, there were no in-person OTAs because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, almost all of the starters on offense refrained from participating because former Browns center JC Tretter led a movement as the NFL Players Association president against attending the voluntary offseason workout program, citing injury data and COVID-19 concerns.”"

Tretter essentially staged a walk-out and the offense was a mess in 2021. There will be those who say these offseason workouts are a waste but that’s absolutely wrong — especially with a team that has so many new faces. These practices will be huge as the Browns look to erase the stench of an 8-9 season.
