The Cleveland Browns drafted 9 rookies in April’s draft which will likely result in some players from last year’s roster being cut or traded.

This week, the Cleveland Browns have just begun with OTA’s in Berea with our first chance to see many players in Cleveland Browns uniforms.

After the Browns drafted nine players in last month’s draft, they will likely take the roster spot of players from last year’s roster.

Let’s take a look at three players I think are likely to get traded or released due to rookies that were drafted at their position.

Cleveland Browns Player No. 1 that may be replaced by a rookie: Greedy Williams, cornerback

The first pick that the Browns made in this year’s draft was used to bring in cornerback Martin Emerson out of Mississippi State. Greedy Williams could be the odd man out in the cornerback room if Emerson has a strong camp and appears ready to play immediately.

This isn’t a knock on Williams but he is in the final year of his rookie contract, and after paying Denzel Ward, the Browns are not likely to re-sign him. Williams has also dealt with a lot of injuries during his career including a shoulder injury that forced him to miss an entire season in 2020.

The Browns are not likely to cut Williams if they don’t believe that Emerson is ready to contribute but if he is they may look to move Williams. In the modern NFL teams are always looking for more corners and if the Browns decide to move on from Williams could likely find a trade partner for the former second-round pick.
