The Cleveland Browns were tied to some free agent wide receivers but they’re reportedly not going to be adding anyone at this time

This offseason, the Cleveland Browns added Amari Cooper via trade, which gives them a new No. 1 wide receiver. They also added David Bell from Purdue in the third round, who will be the third receiver behind Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones.

Even with those two additions, there has been speculation that Cleveland would go out in free agency and look for a more experienced No. 2 receiver. There were hopes among some fans that Jarvis Landry would be brought back, but his signing with New Orleans ended that.

There’s also Will Fuller, who has a great rapport with Deshaun Watson, but it appears that won’t be happening either. According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns are satisfied with their pass catchers and are unlikely to add more.

"“I think the Browns are happy with their pass-catching corps, including receivers, tight ends and backs, and don’t feel compelled to add a bona fide No. 2 receiver. They believe they have all their bases covered, with some speed guys, some contested-ball winners, and some possession receivers. They’re looking at the passing game globally and not just at the receiver position.”"

There are some concerns about the depth for the Browns at wideout. While Cooper is a major upgrade over Landry as a No. 1 wideout, they continue to have questions behind him.

Donovan Peoples-Jones has been a solid find for a Round 6 selection but he has to work on his consistency. They do also have Jakeem Grant — who is a return man that can be used on offense as well — and Anthony Schwartz who is entering year two.

Schwartz started out strong in Week 1 last season but then trended in the wrong direction. Still, the Browns love his speed and want to try and develop him further.

But Mary Kay pointed out the biggest reason not to go spend too much money in free agency — the Browns have plenty of pass-catchers outside of receiver.

Running back Kareem Hunt has been stellar in this regard and tight end David Njoku is also a major weapon in the middle of the offense — who could be even better now that they moved on from Austin Hooper.

Of course, things could change when they get to camp, but as of now, the Browns are happy with the guys they have.
