Player No. 4: Cleveland Browns LB Tony Fields II

The linebacker room for Cleveland isn’t stacked with All-Pro talent. They do have Jeremiah Owusu-Koromoah, the second-year man from Notre Dame returning, and veteran Anthony Walker coming back. They also have a couple of other players like Jacob Phillips and Sione Takaki returning.

Tony Fields was used primarily on special teams a year ago and that may be again where the team will need him again this next season.

Fields was drafted in the fifth round a year ago out of West Virginia. You’d like to see him take a step forward and contribute this season as a linebacker on the defense. If he comes to these training camps prepared to work, he should get his opportunities but his time could be up if he doesn’t show up and impress.

He had a nice career at West Virginia and at Arizona where he played his first three collegiate seasons. He totaled 375 tackles and even had three interceptions. We need to see that type of player at training camp so that he can secure that linebacker spot.

Player No. 5: Cleveland Browns DT Tommy Togiai

Right now, defensive tackle is probably the weakest position on the team. They did draft Perion Winfrey out of Oklahoma and he could start the season as early as Week 1 — just to get an idea of the depth.

Tommy Togiai was drafted last season from Ohio State and while he had a few opportunities late in the season, he will have his work cut out for him this training camp.

The former Buckeye had 16 tackles and was credited with half a sack last season. He will be challenged to make the team as players like Jordan Elliott, Sheldon Day, and newly acquired Taven Bryan will be competing against him. There will likely be other defensive tackles out there in the league that will be late training camp cuts and the Browns could go that route too.

So it’ll be important that Togiai and for that matter, all the defensive tackles on the current roster show up and work or any one of these guys could be released.
