The marriage between the Cleveland Browns and Odell Beckham Jr. did not end well, but time heals all wounds, so is a reunion in the works?

Reunions happen all the time in life and can oftentimes be a good thing. The Cleveland Browns and Odell Beckham Jr. parted from one another in the middle of last season after a messy ending. Thanks to Myles Garrett, there is now speculation that Beckham could potentially return to the Browns.

On Instagram, Garrett posted pictures from OTAs with a caption that read “Come Home The Fellas Miss You.”

Now, this is likely the caption he chose due to the fact that he missed the first week of OTAs and was in attendance during the second week. However, there was a familiar face in the comment section; Beckham.

The comment that OBJ left was one that essentially asked who Garrett was talking to, using slang and emojis. The reply of Garrett is the reason we have something to talk about. His reply was a cellphone emoji with “it’s time” following it. Naturally, this piqued the interest of Browns fans, both in favor of and against a potential reunion.

What a story that would be, huh?

Beckham spent two and a half seasons with the Browns after being traded by the New York Giants. When the trade went down in 2019, many people, myself included, thought the Browns were really about to take off and finally not be the laughing stock of the league. The results did not coincide with those lofty expectations and the experiment ended in flames.

It simply didn’t work out the first go-around with Beckham and the Browns. The chemistry between Beckham and quarterback Baker Mayfield wasn’t there for a myriad of reasons that we have talked about ad nauseam. We all saw the video that Beckham Sr. released with all the times his son was open and Mayfield failed to get him the ball.

The Browns worked with OBJ on his release so that he could pick his next team and not go through waivers. He ended up making the best decision as he joined the Los Angeles Rams, who just so happened to go on to win the Super Bowl. Unfortunately for OBJ, he tore his ACL in the Super Bowl after a hot start, including a touchdown.

At the time of the release from Cleveland, many of the fans were split on what side to choose. Some chose to continue to support OBJ while others were deadest that he was the reason that he and Mayfield did not coexist on the field.

Something that was very telling about this whole ordeal is the fact that a plethora of players on the Browns showed OBJ love on his way out. There wasn’t much of that for Baker, who was still on the team, battling injuries.

Some fans are under the impression that Beckham Jr. was a locker room cancer, but by all accounts of players that still play for the Browns, that is just not the case. Second-year defensive players Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and Greg Newsome II appeared on the Varsity House Podcast, where they said that Beckham was one of or the best teammate they ever had. They also said that Mayfield was a good teammate and Newsome said he always treated him well in all their interactions.

If Beckham Jr. were to return to The Land, it would no longer be Baker throwing him the football, instead, it would be Deshaun Watson. The possibility of playing with an elite quarterback could entice Beckham Jr. to want to try and kick the wheels one more time with the Browns.

For those of you who are adamant that you don’t want this to go down, just hold on a second. This likely won’t be a thing that happens soon, if it happens at all. This is all purely speculation due to a social media post and comments.

The Browns likely won’t sign Beckham during the summer, as he wouldn’t be able to play for at least half the season, likely three quarters due to his ACL recovery. This could be a scenario similar to last year where Beckham will get to pick the team he wants to go to at a crucial point in the season.
