Cap hit in 2022: $6.25 million
Kareem Hunt’s contract is in its last year and there have been rumors since the previous season ended that Hunt might be on the trading block. His contract this year has him with a base salary of $1.35 million and some extras to reach that $6 million mark.
He gets a $1.5 million bonus for making the final roster before week one. He also gets $200,000 for every game he’s active so there is an incentive to stay healthy.
Cap hit in 2022: $6.66 million
The starting left guard for the Browns is due a $3 million base salary and then additional incentives. Joel Bitonio is part of the backbone of the team’s solid offensive line and is locked into the team until 2026.
The 2024 and 2025 are not fully guaranteed and Bitonio could leave after the 2023 season. He’ll be 33 years old by then, so we’ll have to see how things go these next two seasons.
Cap hit in 2022: $7.75 million
John Johnson played well in his first season in Cleveland. He was the big splash signing a year ago in free agency. However, he had several moments during the season that were very poor considering his friendly and somewhat pricey tag. He would become a free agent in 2024 but could be out after this next season so stay tuned.
If he picks up where he left off at the end of last season then he’ll be in a good position to play through that 2023 where his base salary jumps up to over $8 million.
