The Cleveland Browns made nine picks in the 2022 NFL Draft but might end up regretting not taking these three players when they had the chance

After trading out of the second round, the Cleveland Browns wound up with nine picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. They ended up with several players who could end up being contributors for years to come, but that doesn’t mean they won’t regret passing on some prospects.

Here, we look at three players they had a shot at adding, but elected not to, that they could end up regretting.

In the fifth round, the Dallas Cowboys took a gamble on Damone Clark, a linebacker from LSU who underwent spinal fusion surgery in March. The expectation is that Clark will miss the entire 2022 season but speaking as someone who has had fusion surgery in the neck, these procedures have come a very long way.

Dallas is banking on that being the case and they believe they landed someone who can be a full-time starter once healthy. Of course, they know that won’t be until 2023 but when the price was a mere fifth-round pick, it’s worth rolling the dice.

Cleveland did still land a solid player in Round 5 as they took Jerome Ford. However, the Cincinnati running back is joining one of the more crowded running corps in the entire NFL with Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, D’Ernest Johnson, and Demetric Felton all in Cleveland.

As for linebacker, they’re pretty thin at that spot outside of Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, so it might have been worth it to add Clark and prepare him for a role in 2023.
