Cleveland Browns 2022 opponent preview: Miami Dolphins
By John Suchan
The Cleveland Browns and Dolphins take to the field in a Week 10 matchup. These two rising franchises are ready to get to the playoffs and this game will be big.
The Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins will be battling it out in early November this season. While the Browns will get an opportunity to travel down to the warmth of Florida, they will also need to maintain their focus as they enter the most important part of the season.
With the Dolphins trading for wide receiver Tyreek Hill this offseason, it should be a barn burner down on South Beach when the Browns battle the Dolphins.
Miami Dolphins 2021 season
The Dolphins had one of the streakiest seasons in NFL history a year ago. After losing seven straight games, the team responded by winning the next seven in a row. That’s a first in the NFL for a team.
Miami finished the year at 9-8 under head coach Brian Flores. After three seasons and a bit of a resurgence for the Dolphins, Flores was suspiciously fired in January. Even though the team was on the rise this move may have put the team behind the eight ball again.
The team did sweep their rival the New England Patriots for the first time in almost 20 years. They also got nice wins against the Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints.
Key offseason moves
One of the bigger moves in the NFL this off-season has been when the Dolphins traded for wide receiver Tyreek Hill of the Kansas City Chiefs. It was the kind of move that surprised many in the league. Hill had been a superstar in KC, so for Miami to get him now, still in his prime is a huge deal.,
The Dolphins also resigned their top cornerback Xavien Howard and defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah who once played for the Browns.
In draft moves, linebacker Channing Tindall was drafted by Miami in the third round. The defense for the Dolphins has continued to improve over the last few seasons and Tindall should be able to help immediately.
When do the teams meet?
These two teams face off in Week 10 in November. This will be the Browns first game back after their bye week. The Dolphins on the other hand will have played two road games prior to this matchup. They will have played the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears so they will be happy to be back home. The Browns game is scheduled for a 1 pm kickoff.
The last time the Cleveland Browns played the Miami Dolphins
It was November 24, 2019, when these two teams battled it out. The Browns ran away from the Dolphins early building a big lead and then holding on, winning 41-24. Quarterback Baker Mayfield had a great afternoon as he went 24-34 and 327 yards passing and three touchdowns.
One of those players on the other end of those touchdowns was wide receiver Jarvis Landry who had one of his best games as a Member of the Browns as he caught 10 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Nick Chubb had a nice game as well as he went for 106 yards and a touchdown.
Player to watch
Tyreek Hill will be one to watch. Quarterback Tua Togovailoa will be the other. How they go will likely dictate how the rest of the team goes. It’ll be the last game for Miami before they go on their bye week so it’ll be interesting to see how they respond after having been on the road the previous two weeks.
The combo of Togovailoa and Hill could be huge as the season moves forward.
