Cleveland Browns potentially looking to build new stadium
By Jacob Roach
The Cleveland Browns current stadium lease is good through the 2028 season, but they have begun eyeing locations for a new stadium after that.
According to sources, the Cleveland Browns have begun looking into potential sights to build a new stadium. The current lease is through 2028 and many have wondered if they would make upgrades to the current stadium or build a new one. Some have suggested that the current stadium cut corners in order to build it in a small amount of time.
There have been plenty of fans that have used this news to advocate for the Browns to build a retractable roof. If they were to build a new stadium with a roof it would open the venue to host many more events, such as the Super Bowl, which would be lucrative for the organization and the city of Cleveland.
The biggest question that would come with a new stadium would be the location, would they move to a different part of town or out of the city completely? Could they try and put the stadium down in Berea near where the team headquarters is?
According to a report on Cleveland.com
"“Sources close to team owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam told him they want a covered stadium that could cost over $1 billion and are even open to moving the city-owned arena to a new location near downtown to get it. And so far, the Browns have not denied it.”"
So it will be interesting as the Browns get closer to the end of their lease to see if they opt to remodel the current stadium or look to build a new one.
Not everyone is in favor of a covered stadium in Cleveland but it is clear that it would open the location up to host more events.
