Cleveland Browns Running Backs Will Lead the Way Offensively

One of the best things about being a fan of the Browns is being able to say they have the best one-two running back punch in the NFL in Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. If Chubb is not the best overall back in the game today, he’s at least in the conversation. Hunt could be a starter on a number of different teams around the league and is a great compliment to Chubb.

The Browns have had one of the top rushing attacks over the past two or three seasons and if that trend continues, that will take a lot off the plate for Brissett. We have seen Chubb dominate games and we have seen him ice games late in the fourth quarter. If he is able to dominate games and keep the opposing offense and his own defense off the field, mixed in with contributions from Hunt, it will be much more manageable for Brissett to make the throws needed to secure the win.

Chubb has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of the past three seasons and would have done it in his rookie season had it not been for our good friend, Hue Jackson. Thanks, Hue! He’s had at least eight rushing touchdowns in every season he’s played professionally.

Hunt has only had one true full season with the Browns. In 2019, his first year with the team, he was suspended for the first eight games. Last season, he was plagued by the injury bug, causing him to miss nine games. In his lone full season in 2020, he rushed for 841 yards and six touchdowns, while catching 38 passes for 204 yards and five scores.

Coming off of injuries, Hunt will be motivated to get back to form and really help this offense out, with or without Watson on the field. He will also be motivated with the hope he can get a contract extension to stay with his hometown team. He wants to stay in Cleveland and if a deal can’t get done before the season, he will have the opportunity to earn that extension.

The dynamic duo will also help Brissett in the passing game with short dump-off passes. Both are highly capable of catching the ball out of the ballfield and the pistol formation can be utilized especially when you consider the fact Brissett can use his legs to make plays.

Also, if Chubb and Hunt are able to put Brissett and the rest of the team in a position to win games late, the Browns feel they finally found their kicker of the future in fourth-round pick, Cade York.
