Cleveland Browns: Who will compete for the tight end 3 spot
By Jacob Roach
Cleveland Browns tight end candidate No. 4- Nakia Griffin-Stewart
Nakia Griffin-Stewart started his college career at Rutgers where he played for three seasons until he transferred to Pittsburgh for his final campaign. During his college career, he played in a total of 22 games and caught 32 passes for 282 yards and 2 touchdowns averaging 8.8 yards per reception. So another candidate that has a little experience but not a ton of college production.
Griffin-Stewart measures in at 6-foot-5 and 252 pounds with average speed and athleticism. He was an undrafted free agent in 2020 that originally signed with Minnesota and spent time with the Packers, Giants, and Chiefs. Griffin-Stewart doesn’t do anything exceptionally but knows the position and will battle for the final roster spot at the position.
Cleveland Browns tight end candidate No. 3- Marcus Santos-Silva, rookie, played college basketball for Texas Tech
Marcus Santos-Silva is the most unconventional candidate as he hasn’t played football since he was in high school. He was a college basketball player for both Texas Tech and VCU and is 25 years old heading into camp. Santos-Silva stands at 6-foot7 and 250 pounds and he has next-level athleticism.
It’s hard to tell how he will perform in his new sport but he has really nice speed and with his elite athleticism, he is an intriguing candidate if he can learn the position quickly.
