Cleveland Browns: 5 Bold predictions as training camp begins
By John Suchan
The Cleveland Browns open training camp this week and they have high expectations entering this season. Here are several bold predictions on what to expect once camp concludes
The Cleveland Browns welcome their players to training camp this week. The quarterbacks and rookies have already arrived — as have the quarterbacks including Deshaun Watson. He still faces the possibility of a lengthy suspension, but he’ll be around for the long run. Either way, the Browns have some new players joining the team, including wide receiver Amari Cooper, who should be their new No. 1 receiver.
Throw in the best running back room in the league and Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt on offense and two No. 1 overall picks at defensive end in Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney, and the Browns are in good shape across the board.
There will be some competition at camp that will hopefully answer some other questions we have and give a few players some extra opportunity to make their mark. Let’s discuss now several bold predictions on what things might look like as the team works through training camp.

Bold prediction No. 5: Team will trade one of their running backs
The competition at running back for the Browns this training camp will revolve around which player wins the No. 4 spot. Cleveland drafted Jerome Ford from the University of Cincinnati and it was a bit of a surprise because they had just drafted Demetric Felton the year before.
Felton was used in a variety of roles last season as he played running back, wide receiver, and handled kick returns. It’s difficult to see how Felton is going to be used this year because the team also picked up free agent Jakeem Grant to run back kicks.
So, Felton might struggle to make the final roster or if he does make it, maybe he’s used more as a wide receiver where the team still is a bit thin.
The rest of the running back room is so talented you have to wonder how they can carry so many of them on a 53-team roster.
While Ford is likely a lock because he’s the rookie, the others could be vulnerable to a trade. While Nick Chubb isn’t going anywhere, the other three, including Kareem Hunt, D’Ernest Johnson, and the above-mentioned Felton could all be trade bait.
There will be other teams in the league that for a variety of reasons including injuries to their players will look to the Browns to pick up another quality back. Teams like the Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets are just a few that would benefit from trading for one of the Browns running back.
