. . Nick Chubb. 1. player. 53.

No. 1 Nick Chubb, RB

I could give Nick Chubb the No. 1 ranking simply on the fact that he just squatted over 600 pounds recently at his old high school. Not only is Chubb very strong in the weight room but he’s used that strength to run by opponents, knock them down by planting them in the ground on his way to rumbling for 20 or 30 yards on a carry, and just been the team’s best player for the four seasons he’s been a Cleveland Brown.

He’s near the top of every statistical category in the league and has been discussed as a top 3 back every year. He’s also climbing the ladder of the best running backs in team history. He may not catch the great Jim Brown for overall yards gained but he may land at No. 2 when his own career ends.

He’s already had three seasons where he ran for over 1,000 yards. In 2019, he finished with 1,494 yards and would have won the rushing title if his old coach — Freddie Kitchens — would have played him more. In his rookie career, Chubb ended up with 996 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. He was only short of 1,000 because Hue Jackson didn’t play Chubb much at all in the first half of the season.

Chubb has since shined like no other back in the league. Those that are ranking a player like Jonathon Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts ahead of Chubb these days are just disrespecting the greatness of Chubb. He’s made three Pro Bowls, been named to first teams by PFF the last several seasons, and been named in the NFL Top 100 the last couple of seasons,

Chubb will likely continue his dominance in the league. The debate between who’s No. 1 on the Browns likely continues between Chubb and Garrett, but that’s a good debate to have. Having these great players plus the other eight ranked today and not to mention several that just missed the final cut like Wyatt Teller and David Njoku, only make this team even more dangerous as we enter the 2022 season.
