The first couple of practices are in the books for the Cleveland Browns and here are four takeaways from the early portion of training camp

Training camp is back as the Cleveland Browns are in Berea preparing for the 2022 NFL Season. As is always the case, things are usually taken easy at first as teams work on conditioning as well as installing new concepts or plays.

With that being the case, there’s not a whole lot of action going on but that doesn’t mean we won’t get excited to see actual football taking place following a long offseason. It also doesn’t mean there won’t be plenty to take away from the practices.

Having said that, here are four things we learned during the early sessions.

No. 4: Demetric Felton is a name to watch

One player who has been said to be on the roster bubble for the majority of the offseason is Demetric Felton, Jr. Entering his second season in the league, Felton is listed as a running back but also can play wide receiver as well as return kicks.

Right now, the Browns have a full running back room with Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, D’Ernest Johnson, and rookie Jerome Ford. Felton also has competition in the return game since Cleveland signed Jakeem Grant, a Pro Bowl returner.

This means the best chance for the sixth-round pick from 2021 to make the roster will be as a pass-catcher. So far, he’s been doing his best to show his worth in this area as he’s been taking reps from the slot early on.

Felton has proven he can be a dynamic player, and it could be premature to assume he won’t make the team. Especially given the depth and injury concerns Cleveland is once again dealing with at receiver.
