The NFL preseason is just around the corner, and we have all the information you need to know about the Cleveland Browns schedule

Training camp is underway for the Cleveland Browns and the preseason is nearly here. As was the case last season, there will be just three exhibition games in the NFL — and the Browns will play two of those on the road.

While these contests might not deliver non-stop action, they’re vital for the coaching staff as they cut the roster down to 53 players by Week 1 of the season.

When and how exactly do roster cuts work?

At the start of camp, every team is allowed 90 players on their roster. However, as stated above, teams have to chop that down to 53, meaning 37 players will be released before the opener in Carolina.

All 37 won’t be cut overnight though, as the league has teams chip away as the offseason moves along. Here’s a quick rundown of when each cut has to be made:

  • August 16: 85-man roster limit
  • August 23: 80-man roster limit
  • August 30: 53-man roster limit

Teams will cut five players quickly after the first and second preseason games. Then after the final game, they will have to make some tough calls with the largest round of cuts. So while the veterans will play very few snaps, each and every play could be huge for a younger player trying to make the roster.

With that being said, here’s the Browns preseason schedule:

Which players to watch for

Cleveland has the majority of their starters figured out on both sides of the ball. While there could be some competition at defensive tackle and slot receiver, the key spots are set in stone.

Demetric Felton, RB/KR
Sheldon Day, DT

Ja’Marcus Bradley, WR
Curtis Weaver, EDGE

There will also be some rookies battling for a position including:

Mike Woods, WR
Mike Harley, WR

When does the regular season start for the Browns?

Cleveland will play their first game of the regular season on Sept. 11 against Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers.
