Nick Chubb has spoken, wants Kareem Hunt to stay
By John Suchan
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb recently voiced his opinion about keeping Kareem Hunt in town and the team needs to listen
Nick Chubb has spoken and the Cleveland Browns should listen. He wants to continue playing with Kareem Hunt.
Chubb shared this thought recently in an NFL Network interview. He was asked about the fact that Hunt had requested a trade over the weekend and the Browns said “no” to that.
Chubb clearly doesn’t want to see Hunt leave, even saying they’re best friends both on — and off — the field.
Kareem Hunt, Nick Chubb make up the best duo in the NFL
Hunt and Chubb make up the best running back duo in the league. While some have said Chubb is “Batman” and Hunt is “Robin” Chubb suggested another Mortal Combat fighting game series character “Scorpion” for Hunt.
He said he was more like that. That character is a ninja warrior who is one of the game’s iconic characters and seeks revenge on others that have harmed his friends and family.
Batman and the Scorpion sound like a great duo to me, but regardless of the various nicknames you want to call them, the two teammates and friends want to stick together for a very long time in their football careers.
Despite, the Browns stockpiling running backs these last two seasons, the two talented backs admit all the time of wanting to play together and help Cleveland win a Super Bowl.
Considering that Chubb is a man of very few words, those words he shares should mean a lot to the Browns as a whole. Yes, this league is a business, but it’s also a game. Loyalty and hard work should mean something in this day and age.
There hasn’t been a duo of running backs in Cleveland like these two since Kevin Mack and Earnest Byner who played together in the late 1980s. Maybe you’re still a pup and have no idea who those guys were (do a Google search) but they were really good at running the ball. Chubb and Hunt are just as valuable, if not more in this moment in time with the Browns.
I’ve been very vocal about Hunt being on the trading block. Despite the Browns saying they’d say no to that type of trade, anything is possible. Example A: Deshaun Watson was traded to the Browns.
But now the heart and soul of the team (Nick Chubb) has said he wants to continue to play with his best friend, I’d say the team needs to take those words seriously and not mess with the player on the team that has done the most over the last four seasons.
Nick Chubb eyes rushing title
My colleague at DPD, Eddie McDonald recently wrote that he didn’t believe Chubb would win the NFL rushing title this year after coming in second in the previous seasons. He may be right.
But Chubb did also comment on that competition in this same NFL Network interview where he said, “I’ve come in second twice, I’m kinda getting tired of that.”
That my friends are fighting words and don’t be surprised by season’s end if Chubb is wearing the crown. He’ll let his play do the talking. With or without Watson on the field, Chubb is going to get his touches.
