Browns 53-man roster prediction after Preseason Week 1
By Randy Gurzi
The Cleveland Browns beat the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first week of the preseason and now we can predict who makes the 53-man roster to start the season
On Friday night, the Cleveland Browns had their first preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. They got the win but it wasn’t a pretty outing for their starters.
Deshaun Watson was just 1-of-5 passing and Anthony Schwartz had two drops. They also lost their starting center, Nick Harris, for the year to a knee injury, which was suffered on the second play of the game.
With the dust from that game settled, we take a shot at predicting which players will be on the 53-man roster when Cleveland takes the field against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1 of the 2022 season.

Quarterback (2):
Jacoby Brissett
Josh Dobbs
Deshaun Watson will be sidelined for at least six games — and it will probably be more than that. With him out, Jacoby Brissett is going to be the starter. We have yet to see him play in a Browns uniform as they went with Watson to start their first preseason game before turning it over to Josh Dobbs and Josh Rosen.
Dobbs played very well against the Jaguars and did enough to prove they don’t need Rosen. Perhaps he can be on the practice squad but there’s no reason to fear turning things over to Dobbs should Brissett suffer an injury.
As for Brissett, the staff feels good enough about him that they haven’t pulled the trigger on a trade for someone such as Jimmy Garoppolo. There has been talk that such discussions took place but with the first preseason game behind them, it seems as though this is the group they’re going to roll with.
