Cornerback (5):

Denzel Ward
Greg Newsome
Greedy Williams
Martin Emerson
A.J. Green

While the running back corps is the strength of the Browns roster, the cornerback room isn’t too far behind. Denzel Ward was the No. 4 overall pick in 2018 and has developed into one of the best in the game.

They added Greg Newsome II in the first round last season and he’s already looking like a stud. He might not generate a ton of turnovers but he has the ability to mirror receivers and shut them down.

Cleveland continued to show a commitment to this position by not only using a first-round pick on both Ward and Newsome but they used their first selections in 2019 and 2022 on cornerbacks as well. In 2019, that pick came in Round 2, where they found Greedy Williams. A shoulder injury cost him his second season but overall, Williams has been a good player for the Browns.

This year, their first pick didn’t come until Round 3 but they again found a possible contributor in Martin Emerson who had a great first game, recording a pick-six on the play of the night.

As good as Emerson looks, there’s no guarantee he will unseat A.J. Green. The former undrafted free agent from Oklahoma State has performed at a high level whenever called upon.

He had 21 tackles, six pass defenses, and an interception last season. Whether it’s Green or Emerson as the No. 5 cornerback, this unit has to feel comfortable with their chances of slowing down any passing attack in the league.
