3 Browns who could secure a roster spot in Preseason Week 2

2. Isaiah Thomas, EDGE
The Browns drafted a couple of defensive linemen this year in the mid-rounds, and both came in with a lot of expectations. In Round 3, they added Alex Wright from UAB who is a promising EDGE prospect.
In Round 4, they went with Perrion Winfrey a defensive tackle from Oklahoma, and he quickly became a fan favorite due to his excitable personality. Both made their debut on Friday and while they didn’t look terrible, they did struggle in certain areas.
There was another rookie lineman drafted though, and he was a different story. Also from Oklahoma, Isaiah Thomas was a seventh-round pick for Cleveland and he had quite the game in Florida this past weekend.
Throughout the night, the 6-foot-5, 266-pounder proved to be a disruptive force. He pushed his way into the backfield often and finished with three total tackles — two of which were sacks, and the other was a tackle for loss on a run.
Unfortunately for Thomas, he was seen with a cast on his hand on Tuesday but Stefanski says he will only be out “a few days.”
If that proves to be the case, Thomas can really endear himself to fans and the staff. Should he overcome an injury to play on Sunday, he will show the toughness that teams love. Should he do this and perform anywhere close to the level we saw against the Jags, it would all but ensure he makes the team.
General manager Andrew Berry has done a great job drafting in the late rounds and Thomas could be another gem.
