Deshaun Watson will play the final six games this year but the Cleveland Browns best chance to win with him starts in 2023, and this mock draft will help

Now that the Cleveland Browns know when they will have Deshaun Watson, they can start planning their future with him as their franchise quarterback.

Believe it or not, the 11-game settlement was a win for Watson and the Browns. They knew when making the trade for him that their best shot at winning was going to come in 2023 — and getting him back for six games will help him knock off the rust, then have a distraction-free offseason.

With that in mind, we look ahead to the 2023 NFL Draft and check out who the Browns could add as they try to finish building around Watson.

Round 2: Marvin Mims, WR, Oklahoma

Amari Cooper is going to be the No. 1 wideout for the Browns for the next several seasons but the jury’s still out on many of the other pass-catchers on the roster. Unless someone truly breaks out, general manager Andrew Berry might have to look to the 2023 draft — which is what happens here as their first pick brings in Marvin Mims.

The Oklahoma product isn’t the biggest receiver at 5-foot-11 and 177-pounds, but he’s a major deep threat that averaged 22 yards per reception in 2021. He’s also never had a problem getting after the ball even when the coverage is within range.

Adding him across from Cooper could really take this passing attack to the next level.

Round 3: Trey Dean III, S, Florida

Cleveland has been stocking up on cornerbacks and now they add a new safety to the mix in Trey Dean III from Florida. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 206-pounds, Dean is known for his power and would be a solid fit in the role currently occupied by Ronnie Harrison.

An in-the-box safety, he would potentially be the third man in Joe Woods’ defensive scheme and could really excel against the run.
