4 Cleveland Browns that would be instantly claimed if cut
By Greg Newland
The Cleveland Browns and Andrew Berry will have some tough cuts in the next few weeks. These four guys will quickly find a new home.
Each week the Cleveland Browns continue to make roster cuts. With the final preseason and dress rehearsal game this Saturday night, the bulk of the cuts you will see will come early next week. We have seen a few early departures, but there won’t be many big surprises until the final 53-man roster is finalized by end of the day on August 30th. Most teams will be working down from a roster of 80 down to 53.
The NFL is a tricky business, each team will try and fill its roster with a mix of young talent and veteran experience. You will certainly see a few “cap casualties” where veteran players who still have some gas in the tank but are overcompensated, will be let go to give a younger guy making less money a shot.
The Browns likely won’t have any major shockers as they got rid of their cap casualties before camp, but they certainly have some talented guys who will get gobbled up once released.

No. 4 – Dakota Allen, Linebacker
For this first time in years, I can honestly say the Cleveland Browns are stacked at the linebacker position. I have a few questions about if guys can stay healthy, but they are young and fast at the position. One of the standouts this preseason for me has been Dakota Allen. The 2017 seventh-round pick from Texas Tech has been all over the field and making a lot of plays.
I want to say there is room for him to make this roster, but I think with Willie Harvey’s experience on special teams, he will likely struggle to make the final roster.
Allen will get another shot because he has some speed and the potential for special teams. I will be curious to see what this team does with Sione Takitaki. If Andrew Berry likes Allen, they could move on from the former third-round pick that hasn’t developed as planned.
