3 Browns players likely making their final appearance with franchise
Player No. 1: Ja’Marcus Bradley
One guard rail that often gets overlooked when discussing Cleveland’s front office is the churning of the bottom of the roster. For two years Ja’Marcus Bradley has managed to hang on as a practice squad receiver, and in both seasons, Bradley has been called up to the active roster at the end of the year.
Unfortunately for Bradley, the Browns brought a myriad of new receivers into the mix in 2022. The team traded for Amari Cooper, drafted two receivers in David Bell and Michael Woods, and then added a plethora of undrafted free agents: Isaiah Weston, Mike Harley Jr., Daylen Baldwin, and Travel Harris.
Weston was the most touted of the UDFAs due to his size and speed, but after suffering a knee injury the undrafted rookie was waived and moved to the team’s injured reserved list. However, both Harley and Baldwin have more than held their own and in doing so, have pushed Bradley to the bottom of the depth chart.
Now Bradley faces the prospect that this final preseason game will most likely be his last in a Browns uniform. Like everyone else in the NFL that is facing a similar fate, all Bradley can do is put as much good film out there as possible and hope that another team seeks his services.
Because, unlike the two previous years, even if Bradley balls out, it is highly unlikely that the Browns will bring him back to the practice squad. While it is unfortunate for Bradley, the NFL is a business, and that is how you churn the bottom of a roster.
