If the Cleveland Browns want to stay competitive in 2022, they will need to make sure they add one of these three wide receivers before opening day.

The Cleveland Browns find themselves in a very difficult situation currently. In a loaded AFC, they are without their starting quarterback for the first 11-games of the season. And it will be a huge challenge for them to make the playoffs with Jacoby Brissett as their starter for most of the season.

On the other hand, the Browns have a lot of young talent on this roster, so it’s hard to justify just throwing in the towel for a season. Guys such as Jadeveon Clowney aren’t locked to be around in 2023, and you’re wasting prime years of guys like Nick Chubb, Denzel Ward, and Myles Garrett.

Surprisingly, up to this point, it appears they are set at quarterback. With Jimmy Garoppolo likely available, I was a bit surprised to not try and see them upgrade. But, if this team wants to win some games, they must get better at wide receiver. The group is one of the worst in the league currently. The Browns could add one of these three guys before the start of the season.

Emmanuel Sanders /

No. 3 – Emmanuel Sanders

The production has been lacking for Emmanuel Sanders the last few seasons, but he could certainly bring some experience to this roster. I’m not sold he is a legit No. 2 receiver in the NFL anymore, but he would be a fantastic No. 3 and a huge upgrade.

At age 35, Sanders only has a year or two left of real production, but he could also be a great mentor for guys like David Bell and Anthony Schwartz. In 2014 Sanders had his best year with over 1,400 receiving yards but hasn’t had a season over 900 yards receiving since 2016.

His last two stents with the Saints and Bills didn’t go as planned, but he could bring some value to the Browns roster in 2022.
