Defensive roster thoughts

One of the brightest spots for Cleveland’s defense in the preseason was undrafted rookie D’Anthony Bell. The team loves to play multiple safety sets and they really didn’t have a clear fifth safety when training camp began for depth.

Bell showed some skill in tackling, physicality, and the ability to knock the ball out. He should also be able to be a special team contributor, just a player that made the absolute most of the opportunities that were given to him.

Isaac Rochell is another player that made the most out of his opportunities, especially after Stephen Weatherly went down. He showed he good give some solid snaps if pressed into playing time and was a player I didn’t see making the roster a couple of months ago.

Overall the defensive end room and defensive backfield are really strong and will be needed to cover the deficiencies at defensive tackle and the lack of proven linebacker depth.
