The Cleveland Browns have until 4:00 PM on Tuesday to trim their roster from 80 to 53 players. Stick with us to see who has been let go as they prepare for Week 1 of the 2022 season

One of the toughest weeks of the NFL season is here as teams have to start trimming their rosters from 80 players down to 53. That means several players will see their journey come to an end, including many members of the Cleveland Browns we have been cheering for this preseason.

The good news for them is that they might have done enough in those exhibition games to deserve a shot somewhere else, but that’s not guaranteed.

Every team in the league has until Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 4:00 PM to get their roster down to the limit. Nothing is finished at this point as waivers can be claimed for 24 hours, then the 16-player practice squads begin to take shape.

For Cleveland, they decided not to wait until Tuesday as some of their moves were already announced, with the biggest name on Sunday night being Javon Wims.

Formerly of the Chicago Bears, Wims got a lot of action in the preseason finale against Chicago and had four receptions for 41 yards. It did, however, take nine targets for him to reach that total.

Also out on Sunday was Curtis Weaver, who was originally drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2020 but was waived with an injury designation. General manager Andrew Berry claimed him and stashed him on the roster for a year, but Weaver never turned into the player we saw at Boise State.

Ben Petrula is another name that was announced on Sunday. A former Boston College tackle, Petrula was an undrafted free agent and struggled in the preseason.

The rest of the names who have been informed of their release can be seen below.
