The Cleveland Browns made their final roster cuts this week to get to the 53-man requirement, but they’ll likely still be making more moves this week

The Cleveland Browns made their initial cuts to get down to the 53-man roster on Tuesday. There weren’t too many surprises, however, there were a few moves that have made the conversation on what the team plans to do next very interesting.

Cleveland only kept two tight ends on the roster and they also only kept five wide receivers. So, are there more moves ahead? I would suspect that there are some still to come. Let’s discuss now a few of those possibilities.

No. 3: Target a TE

The Browns brought several tight ends to training camp and in the end, they cut them all. The two veterans David Njoku and Harrison Bryant are the only two that survived the cuts. It’s a bit of a shocker, considering they’ve utilized multiple tight end-heavy play formations over the last two seasons.

Are they really going into the regular season with only two tight ends? That would have to be a hard “no”. So, what’s their plan? Right now, the rumor mill is working overtime and O.J. Howard, the former first-round pick of the Tampa Buccaneers has been tied to Cleveland.

He went to the Buffalo Bills training camp this summer but was released this week. He’s struggled to live up to his draft status, collecting 119 receptions for 1,737 yards and 15 touchdowns as a Buccaneer. This past season, he had just 14 catches for 135 yards.

Another available tight end would be Austin Allen, who went to the New York Giants training camp.

The former Nebraska Cornhusker can’t be missed as he stands in at 6-foot-8. He caught six passes for the Giants in the preseason and could be a solid third tight end.
