Browns practice squad tracker 2022: Mike Harley returns
By Randy Gurzi
The Cleveland Browns have their 53-man roster and are now getting to work filling up their 16-man practice squad
On Tuesday, every team had to make cuts and bring their rosters down to 53 players. On Wednesday, they were then able to claim anyone on waivers by noon and the Cleveland Browns decided to bring in former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kellen Mond. This was their only claim and while they lost Blake Hance to the 49ers, many of the players they waived were still available.
Now with the waivers behind them, they can turn their attention to the practice squad, a 16-player unit that can work with the team throughout the week and be called up to the active roster if needed.
In the past, there were only 10 players on the practice squad but once COVID hit, the league allowed six more players. They were also allowed to use players with fewer than two accrued seasons in the NFL. That’s also changed as teams can keep up to six players who are veterans in the league.
There were other tweaks this season, mainly focusing on how many times a player can be called up to the active roster before having to be kept there permanently.
One of the more popular players for Cleveland this offseason was Mike Harley, Jr. and fans should be excited to see he was one of the first names announced as a member of the practice squad.
Below is a full list of players confirmed to have joined Cleveland’s practice squad.
