A new wide receiver and defensive tackle get things rolling in our latest seven-round 2023 Cleveland Browns mock draft ahead of Week 1

For those who love the NFL Draft, it’s always draft season. That’s why we continue to look ahead at the Cleveland Browns possible selections in 2023.

Since Andrew Berry took over as the general manager, Cleveland has been doing very well in its scouting and selection process. That’s why they have yet to cut a draft pick they have made entering year three.

Here we try and do them justice by making predictions in this seven-round 2023 Browns mock draft.

Round 2: Josh Downs, WR, North Carolina

Cleveland has some holes at wide receiver outside of Amari Cooper. His presence gives them a legit No. 1 wide receiver but Donovan Peoples-Jones still needs to prove he can be a No. 2 guy and David Bell has yet to take a snap in the NFL.

Even if both players do well this season, it would be wise to continue to add depth — in order to ensure they never find the cupboard so bare again. That’s the goal here as Josh Downs is selected in Round 2, which is their first pick of the draft.

Downs broke out in 2021 with 101 receptions for 1,335 yards and eight touchdowns, then started this year out with 78 yards and two scores on nine catches.

Listed at 5-10 and 180-pounds, Downs has everything you need including speed, athleticism, and great route running — making him an ideal fit in Cleveland’s offense.
