The Cleveland Browns take on the Carolina Panthers in Week 1 at Bank of America Stadium
After months of waiting, our good friend has finally returned — Cleveland Browns football.
In Week 1, the Browns will travel to Charlotte, North Carolina where they will play against Baker Mayfield, who was the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and spent the first four seasons of his career in Cleveland.
Mayfield won’t be the only concern for the Browns defense though. Carolina has a pretty impressive receiving corps that includes D.J. Moore, Robbie Anderson, Laviska Shenault, and another familiar face in Rashard Higgins.
Thankfully, the Browns are built to handle such an attack. They’re strong in the secondary with Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome, John Johnson III, and Grant Delpit all having big roles. The depth is there as well with Ronnie Harrison, Martin Emerson, and A.J. Green coming off the bench when needed — and with Greedy Williams out, Emerson is likely to see plenty of time.
The main question will be how they handle the running game. It’s no secret the defensive line has some concerns at tackle and Carolina has one of the best backs in the game in Christian McCaffrey. Currently, he’s dealing with an injury but even if he’s not at 100 percent, Chuba Hubbard and D’Onta Foreman can also do some damage.
As for Cleveland’s offense, they’ll surely have to lean heavily on their own ground game led by Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. That’s because they’ll be starting Jacoby Brissett under center for the first 11 games while Deshaun Watson serves his suspension.
With all that being said, let’s check out how to watch the first game of the season.
