Browns potential breakout star for Week 7 vs Ravens
By Jacob Roach
The Cleveland Browns are hoping to end a three-game losing streak against the Ravens who could be a breakout star in Week 7?
If the Cleveland Browns are to save their 2022 season from being a total disaster it must start Sunday as they travel to Baltimore and take on the Ravens. If they could pull out a win this Sunday they would be sitting towards the top of the division with the Bengals coming to town next week. But if the Browns want any chance of pulling the upset they will need several players to step up on the defensive side of the ball.
One of the biggest breakout candidates against the Ravens is rookie cornerback Martin Emerson who is slated to make his second straight start with Denzel Ward in concussion protocol. The Patriots picked on and targeted the rookie a lot last week and though he had some ups and downs he looked ready for the moment.
Emerson has the size and strength to cover bigger wide receivers and tight ends and has enough athleticism and speed to keep up with quicker players as well. He has a unique skill set that if he can put it all together he could be a really important player for the Browns in years to come.
So far in six games, one start, Emerson has only allowed a 52.9 completion percentage when he is targeted by opposing quarterbacks. In the 18 completions that he has allowed he has only given up 36 yards after the catch so he is quick to bring the receiver down when he does allow completions.
Emerson will probably be tested this week against the Ravens but he should be up to the challenge and have a breakout game in Week 7.
