Serious injury concerns cloud future for Browns superstar
By Randy Gurzi
Denzel Ward has been in the concussion protocol since Week 5 and is dealing with the third in his young career, which is very concerning for the Cleveland Browns
Sometimes when watching NFL players perform insane feats on the field, it’s easy to forget they’re not actually superhumans. This season, we’ve been reminded of this after watching Tua Tagivailoa deal with a scary head injury — and the Cleveland Browns could have their own concerns in this department to worry about.
Denzel Ward, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, suffered a concussion in Week 5 and as we enter Week 8, he’s still in the concussion protocol.
That alone is scary but what’s worse is that Ward is already dealing with his third concussion at just 25 years old, which has some questioning whether or not he should continue to risk his health.
Browns need to be very careful with Denzel Ward
In addition to his concussions, Ward has dealt with many other injuries including hamstring issues and a foot problem this offseason. But none are as scary as what he’s going through now since so little is known about the lasting effect of these injuries.
With that being said, Ward is a football player and as we saw with Tua, those guys will risk their future for a chance to do what they love. For that reason, Cleveland’s medical staff needs to make sure he’s 100 percent before even considering letting him on the field.
As much as the game means to Ward and as good as he is on the field, nothing is as important as the health of these guys. Hopefully, he will get back on track but it has to be concerning at this point.
