Week 8 instant reactions: Browns put on a show on Halloween night
By Randy Gurzi
The Cleveland Browns poured it on against the Cincinnati Bengals on Halloween night as they improved to 3-5. Here are some reactions from the big win.
Needing a win after four straight losses, the Cleveland Browns made it look easy against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football.
They started things out with a turnover as Myles Garrett tipped a Joe Burrow pass and A.J. Green came down with the pick. Cade York had his field goal blocked which led to feelings of the Browns again missing out on opportunities, but it wasn’t long before they started to click on offense.
Nick Chubb ran in a touchdown after taking a direct snap and then scored on a two-point conversion to go up 8-0.
York then hit a 55-yard field goal just before the half to go up 11-0 but then Cleveland poured it on in the second.
Entering this game, the Bengals’ defense had not yet surrendered a second-half touchdown but Cleveland had two in the third quarter alone. Jacoby Brissett ran one in from three yards out and then hit Amari Cooper on a four-yard touchdown.
For good measure, Chubb got his second of the night to make it a 32-6 lead in the fourth. From there, all they cared about was killing the clock, finishing with a 32-13 win.
Browns needed a win in the worst way
With four losses in a row, the Browns needed this win to keep the season alive. They did that and even improved to 2-1 in the AFC North which is huge for them as they fight to get back into the division race.
More importantly, this was the most complete game they had on the season as both the offense and defense were clocking on all cylinders.
Myles Garrett loves Halloween
Myles Garrett has always loved Halloween and showed up to this game dressed like Vecna from Stranger Things. He then caused headaches for the Bengals all night. He tipped a pass that was picked off and had 1.5 sacks on the night. He had a huge game on his favorite night of the year.
Nick Chubb is the best running back in football
Chubb has continued his phenomenal season and it’s starting to become very clear that he’s the best back in the NFL. Even with a banged-up offensive line, Chubb found holes in this defense and ran for 101 yards and two touchdowns. For good measure, he had three yards on one reception but his worth is as a pure runner — and there’s no one better right now.
