Through the first 8 games, the Cleveland Browns are a disappointing 3-5. These five players have continued to struggle in the first half of the 2022 season.

The Cleveland Browns are doing everything possible to revitalize a season of many ups and downs. Even though they have all but blown two games that easily should have been wins, they set at 3-5 with a 2-1 record in the division and still a fighting chance at the playoffs.

With only three more games until the return of Deshaun Watson, there’s some reason for optimism. But we can’t forget that the next three games come against the Dolphins, Buccaneers, and Bills. Two of those games would be considered winnable but going to Buffalo and getting a win is a huge uphill battle that I’m not ready to say there is a chance of happening.

5-3 would certainly feel great, but this team can’t go backward. After six weeks of pitiful defense, Joe Woods finally has this unit playing good football. With only a few big plays given up vs. the Bengals, they may finally be getting to form.

The Browns still have some hope as we work into the second half of the season, but these five players must step up if this team wants to have a chance.

No. 5 – Anthony Schwartz and David Bell

I’ll start out with a little two-for-one action. The Cleveland Browns came into this season with a lot of question marks at the third receiving position.

And to this point, none of those questions have been answered. Donovan Peoples-Jones has stepped up and made some big plays as the second receiver, but Anthony Schwartz and David Bell have both been below average.

These aren’t guys that need to be 700 or 800-yard receivers, but just some simple production or one or two plays a game. Schwartz has recently been a healthy scratch and Bell continues to struggle to get separation in the slot.
