Round 2 pick 39- JL Skinner, safety, Boise State

The Browns continue to not have a true free safety on the roster and for a team that wants to play a lot of three-safety sets that is a problem. Enter true free safety JL Skinner from Boise State a player with great instincts and measurables at the position. He can play exactly the center fielder role the team has been lacking since Andrew Berry took over three years ago.

There have been questions about leadership and effort from the defense this season and those are two things you will never question about Skinner. He has a great football IQ to understand the look the offenses are giving him and helps get all his teammates in a position to succeed.

The best part about Skinner is his motor and his ability to hit someone in the mouth both in the passing game and the run game. This is a player that is not afraid to come flying up in the run game and has great speed and size to play all over the field. Skinner would be an absolutely perfect fit for what the Browns lack on defense right now.
