As the Cleveland Browns finish out the 2022 season, Andrew Berry should start looking at the 2023 roster and these three players that shouldn’t return.

I hate to say it, but we have officially come to the part of the Cleveland Browns season where we start looking at the roster for next season. These last few games will still have meaning as we can finally evaluate Deshaun Watson to see if he is the real deal. About the only thing that could go worse for the organization at this point would be if he plays extremely poorly to end the year.

2022 was always going to be an uphill battle for the Browns. With Watson suspended for the first 11 games of the season, that meant a backup quarterback for more than half of the year. On top of that, the AFC continues to be loaded with talent and the AFC North remains competitive.

At this point, I just hope the coaching staff can keep it together to end the year. I’m not convinced they are the problem, but if things get much worse it could cost someone their job. The real person who will need to have some answers is Andrew Berry. As always, he remains silent, but his paper and pencil better be churning to improve this roster in 2023. Here are three Browns that have no business returning in 2023.

Player No. 3 – Greedy Williams

Greedy Williams makes this list for two reasons. One, the Cleveland Browns have a ton of depth at the position with Martin Emerson playing well and A.J. Green showing potential. Two, Williams continues to be an injury question mark.

At times Williams has flashed a bit, but not quite that a team will be willing to trade for him. His lack of tackling is just too much to overcome, and Williams seems like a guy that is always going to miss four to five games per season.

Williams is set for free agency in 2023 and letting him walk would free them up to re-sign Green and they could also land another rookie for far less than it would cost to retain the former second-round pick.
