Stud: Amari Cooper, Wide Receiver

An uncharacteristic drop on fourth-and-long could have been enough to put Amari Cooper on the duds list but the first-year Cleveland Browns wideout got a chance at redemption. And he sure did redeem himself.

In overtime, Cooper caught a third-down pass and ran it 45 yards to the Tampa Bay three. He nearly took it to the house but despite being forced out of bounds, he still set Nick Chubb up for the game-winner.

Cooper ended up with 94 yards on seven receptions as he continued to prove he’s still a No. 1 wideout, even though Dallas was willing to give him up for a late-round pick.

Stud: Nick Chubb, Running Back

There will be those who tout Cleveland’s record when Nick Chubb gets more than 20 carries, and there’s something to that. When he gets that many rushes, Cleveland is 4-0. However, there’s usually causation there as Chubb is used to run the clock when they’re already winning — that means it’s always more likely he gets the ball 20 times in a win than vice versa.

There’s another factor which is when the Browns fall behind by two scores. When that happens, they usually have to abandon the run to try and catch up but have fallen short when they need to pass.

While this game wasn’t one where he milked the clock, it was close enough that Cleveland never had to get away from the ground attack. This led to Chubb running 26 times for 116 yards and the winning score.

The past couple of weeks haven’t been great for Chubb but he took it to a strong defensive front and was a huge reason his team improved to 4-7.
