Cleveland Browns: Predicting the final five games of the season
By Randy Gurzi
The Cleveland Browns have five games left in the 2022 season. Can they turn things around and finish the year with a winning record?
Deshaun Watson made his return to the field in Week 13, which was also his debut with the Cleveland Browns. While they got the win, it was far from a perfect game — and Watson didn’t look like the player we saw when he was with the Texans in 2020.
That should have been expected since it was his first real playing time in 700 days. He should begin to shake the rust off over the next five weeks, giving us a better impression of what we will see in 2023.
But how will the Browns do in their remaining games this year? We try and answer that with this prediction for the last five games in 2022.
Week 14 Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals
It’s the rematch from Halloween night, which was when the Browns took it to the Bengals thanks in large part to a big game from Nick Chubb. It was yet another win against Joe Burrow, who has yet to defeat Cleveland.
Eventually, that streak will end — and it might be this weekend. Cincinnati just took out the Kansas City Chiefs and they’re surely sick of losing to the Browns. Throw in the fact that Watson still won’t have gotten things back on track and this feels like a loss.
Having said that, Cleveland matches up well against these guys, so they do at least keep it close — but still fall to 5-8 with no room for error if they want to have a winning campaign.
Prediction: Bengals 33, Browns 27
Record: 5-8
