Cleveland Browns storyline No. 1: All eyes on Deshaun Watson

Most Browns fans on Sunday will be paying attention to Deshaun Watson who is playing in his fifth game with Cleveland. He has made some progress over the last month, however, he hasn’t been overly spectacular for numerous reasons — none more relevant than his absence from the game over the past two seasons.

Watson is now the face of the franchise and will be that for the next several seasons. It would be nice to see him make some more progress in this next game against Washington and then in the final game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. That improvement would give the Browns fan base some optimism to cling to going into next season.

Watson will continue to be a very polarizing figure for this franchise because of the investment that Cleveland made this past offseason to bring him in. Every pass, run, and decision he makes on Sundays will be scrutinized, especially if he can’t help the franchise turn their fortunes around.

Many are giving him a free pass this year and even Watson has stated recently that it’s not about this season but about the future. That’s all fine, but when one says that it doesn’t make the current situation any more tolerable.

Hopefully, the future that Watson and the Browns are envisioning will come true. But first let’s watch Sunday and see what he can do to help his team win the game in Washington.
