With the 2022 NFL season wrapping up the Cleveland Browns will need to make some improvements for 2023, let’s look at three free-agent targets for the team.

It has been a roller coaster of a season for the Cleveland Browns who look to finish strong against the Steelers in Week 18. The offense hasn’t been the problem but at times they are still limited with the weapons they have.

Let’s look at three potential free agents on the offensive side of the ball that could take this group to the next level.

Browns FA target No. 3: Jordan Akins, TE, Houston Texans

Signing Jordan Akins from the Houston Texans wouldn’t be a big splash signing that fans go crazy over but it does have value. David Njoku has finally started to be the player the team hoped he could be but the depth behind him has been underwhelming, to say the least. Harrison Bryant continues to be an up-and-down player and proven depth is needed.

Akins played three seasons with Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson and having familiarity already would make him a good addition. He provides a big target, especially in the red zone at 6-foot-4 and 243 pounds with next season being his sixth season in the NFL.

Over the course of his five seasons in the NFL, Akins has played in 72 games with a total of 147 receptions for 1,685 yards and six touchdowns. Three of his five seasons in the NFL saw him total over 400 yards a season with reliable hands and not many drops. He would add much-needed depth to a room that lacked it in 2022.
