Cleveland Browns WR trade target No. 3: Brandin Cooks, Houston Texans

Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks signed a new contract before the beginning of this past season. His new contract included $36 million guaranteed for two years. If the Texans were to trade Cooks this offseason as a post-June 1 designation, they could potentially save $18 million in cap space.

Cooks has not been a happy camper with the Texans and has indicated his desire to play elsewhere, especially after this season where they only won a couple of games. Cooks has also played alongside Deshaun Watson in the past, and it would be a nice reunion for the two.

While Cooks has had a solid career, this season was a little bit of a downer as he only caught 57 passes for 599 yards, but he was out for several games. However, in his career, he’s had six seasons where he’s gone over 1,000 yards receiving and also caught 49 touchdown passes. In all, he’s recorded 8,616 yards receiving via 630 receptions.

The likelihood of Cox being traded seems unlikely at the moment because of his contract restrictions. However, stranger things have happened, and Cleveland bringing in a high-profile player like Cooks could certainly mean the difference for the team, looking to get back to the postseason.
